This is me and my husband on holiday in Hampshire, England, a few years ago.

I have been machine knitting for nearly 40 years. I am a working designer of  fun garments for children and beautiful classic clothes for ladies. A feature of my designs is although they often appear quite complex, they are usually very simple. I have written over twenty books of garment patterns and techniques.

I live in the United Kingdom, and apart from a year's break for a heart operation and subsequent recovery through 2004, and a go slow due to a stroke in Summer 2007, my designs and articles have been featured regularly in Machine Knitting Monthly since 1992. http://www.machineknittingmonthly.net . I am at present having surgery and treatment for Breast Cancer.

Between 1985 and 1992 my designs were commissioned exclusively by Machine Knitting News and the defunct Machine Knitting News Collections. They were featured first in the name of my then design company, MAGPIE, and later under my own name Maggie Andrews. Unfortunately Machine Knitting News has recently ceased publication.

Since 1992 I have written over 20 pattern and technique books and have regularly produced limited edition collections of Designer Patterns for ladies clothes. I have taught classes in machine knitting, organised and demonstrated at a local knitting club for 16 years. I was a support tutor for the Ann Kite Home School http://www.annkitehomeschool.co.uk and until my stroke I visited other Knitting Clubs in the U.K. as a speaker, to pass on the machine knitting knowledge that I have accumulated over the years.
